Just an indie dev's attempt at learning Japanese, while also practicing Android Development.
The core function of the app is to provide reference and quick access to commonly used Japanese vocabulary and phrases displayed in their Romaji (Western 26 letter-alphabet) form...for now!
Itching to take your learning further?!
Users can take their learning a step further by accessing the app's Hiragana Syllabary, which provides an audio sample of each Hiragana character's (gojūon only) phonetic pronunciation. A corresponding GIF Image visual of stroke order patterns are available as well (long press character tile to view).
The app does provide an English to Japanese translation feature based off Google's Cloud Translate API. In its current form, the sole purpose is to provide a simple method of translation for any material not covered by the app or too complex for novice Japanese speakers.
Lastly, use the app's home screen widget to have quick access to the English -> Japanese Translate function. If you're looking for additional methods of exposure to learn Japanese, the widget will serve a random vocabulary term or phrase from the app's database every 30 minutes.
Additional features coming soon:
1. Audio recording functionality to allow users to playback clips of their pronunciation content.
2. More Hiragana and Katakana Syllabary and Media content.
3. If users decide to go above and beyond what the app content, users have potential to add custom vocabulary & phrases content.
4. Potential to implement Speech and Image processing.
